Star Wars Episode III Theatrical Trailer

For a few days now on my local FOX, they have been advertising the full trailer for Star Wars Ep. III to air after last night's episode of The O.C. Me, being the science nut that I am, decided that watch The O.C. to wait for the trailer, and I was not disappointed.

I had my doubts about this movie, but this trailer convinced me to go see it. It looks like much of the movie will be about Palpatine seducing Anakin to his side. Palpatine looked great, and the flashes of Darth Vader near the end were what clinched it for me. And Obi-Wan crying to Anakin that "You were the chosen one!" when their story loop reaches a climax ... it was all very good. Anybody else see it yet?

I'm not sure if this thread should be here or in BABBling, but there are other threads in this forum that don't really discuss astronomy, so I think I'm safe. ops:

I saw it last night. It looks to be the best of the I - III trilogy.

My question is--by showing the trailer during The O.C., did Fox gain any new viewers for that show? I'm sure that was Fox's goal! I was at my boyfriend's, and his roommate had the O.C. on and my BF was making fun of him for watching it. But he had to remind us he only had it on for the trailer! No way would he watch it on his own!

And I noticed, of course, that they waited until the very end to show it. So, were any of you so fascinated by the O.C. that you will be going back? The roommate was a no. (And no, I don't watch it either!)

I saw an actual theatrical trailer in the theater a couple months ago. I can't remember which movie I was watching. Wait--maybe it was "Meet the Fockers." It opened with a close-up shot of Darth Vader's suit, and it gave me chills! That was enough to make me want to go see it this spring. I like Sci Fi, but I'm not a huge Star Wars Fans. I saw Jedi in the theaters when I was a kid, I think I was too young for the others. I saw Eps I and II. I was better than I expected. I was very dissapointed in II. The acting (or how the director forced the actors to portray their roles) was HORRIBLE IMO and I fell asleep during the battle scene. I have no desire to see II again. But I agree with RBR, from the trailers it looks good!

Heck, there were Star Wars fans who went to the movies just to see the preview for AotC. They'd walk out before the movie started.

I'll wait for it to hit the web rather than give Fox any new viewership.

My wife was channel surfing watching a couple of shows (with the O.C. being one of them.) I was playing Beatles on my digital piano (with my headphones, so as to not disturb my wife.) I don't watch a lot of TV, so I had not idea about the trailer. The O.C. had ended and I couldn't help but overhear about Ep. III trailer, so I quit playing piano for a few minutes and got to see the trailer without having to waste my time watching the O.C. Perfect timing

I taped the OC while watching Survivor so I could have it on tape and watch just the trailer without that terrible show.

They also aired it, or part of it, on Access Hollywood last night. It's only a 30 minute show and it aired early in the program. I saw enough to think it will be good.

Yea, I had this discussion with a bunch of friends last night... it seems only girls watch this show, and all guys hate it (atleast in our group) My friend just taped the OC and was going to FF through the show and watch the commercials

but like you said, maybe they are trying to get more guys to watch the OC

    I for one will not....

From a recent article on CNN, episode III is likely to get a PG-13 rating. That'll be a first for the Star Wars films. Sounds like a good thing to me.

This site has the link to the site with the trailer.

I can't get it to load at the moment, must be buggered with traffic, of course, I don't have the direct link for some reason.

I fear it would have to be FAR better (as in an engaging story) than the prior two before I could work up any interest. I loved Star Wars and enjoyed the next two, but I found the recent movies just ... boring. There is a point when you need to stop doing special effects just for the sake of special effects and think about story.

I just checked Fark, the usual suspect when a site goes down due to load, but no, they don't have it greenlit for the public feeding frenzy yet.

I just knew they could tie it all together in just one more episode, and it looks like I was right!

I watched it here (I'm pretty sure this is the new trailer, at least it's a new trailer).

The trailer looks very cool. But as the old saying goes: "Fool me twice, shame on you. Fool me three times, man those blaster cannons look cool!" (I'm paraphrasing). Honestly, I really loved the episode I trailer (even Jar Jar looked cool) and the episode II trailers and I hated both. Or maybe this could break the streak. Certainly the fact that Lucas says this one isn't for kids made me perk up a bit.

The O.C. was pretty pathetic that night, I must say. It's just the kind of show that seems to add drama for the sake of drama. Apparantly, though, it has a fairly wide viewing audience, so I guess people just enjoy that kind of thing.

I actually enjoyed episodes I & II. True, they weren't masterpieces, but I thought that they were fun movies. My only gripe was that they didn't feel at all like Star Wars. That's why I'm excited for this one, it looks like it's pulling back into what made IV-VI so good.

i also like I and II. they feel different than the others because not only were they made a generation later, but they take place a generation earlier.
it was a different time- a time of peace and prosperity. of course the galaxy is going to be different- in IV-VI, the galaxy had been involved in what was essentially a huge civil war for a generation and ruled by an all powerful emperor- in I -III, they show how a once peaceful and prosperous republic got to that point.
i especially liked the way they showed the political maneuvering and the justifications for it all in I & II- and III should have all hell break loose and tie up a few loose ends.
yeah, they could have done it without some of the characters- Jar Jar and the Ewoks come to mind- but each of them also has their place iin it all.
Jar Jar was a social outcast who bumbled his way into the Senate and innocently gave Palpatine the go ahead to become the Emperor, and the Ewoks- well, they killed a few huge walking machines with nothing but logs and wit.

I never watched the two shows you mentioned. I looked up descriptions on the IMDB however.

So yet another show where the "stars" are from Central Casting and the model agency, and the plots are from afternoon soap operas.

Hard to imagine something devolving from the first two. But never underestimate TV's (or what ever Fox is) abilities to lower the bar.

If you've not seen those shows, then I'd suggest a possibly even more accurate description - it's Smallville with all the Superman bits removed

So they were like this. To think that the networks actually believe such shows help sell products! But this is yet another example of evolution having negative results: the network executive.

Well he did meet some people from the future...

I don't really watch The Simpsons any more but they had a dead-on parody of Star Wars I

The new trailer is definitely cool 8). I went to see Robots this weekend hoping to see the trailer too but sadly it wasn't played. Fortunately I have a friend who is a starwars.com member and he hooked me up.

Guys watch The O.C. at my university, but that's only because one of the stars of the show went to my university.
