By background and training (from what I can tell), he's a journalist.

Yes, he was a respectable journalist at some point, as was Linda Moulton Howe.

I've worked with journalists in the past and from what I can tell, the journalistic method is similar in a lot of ways to the scientific method. But, it's a lot less rigorous and more personal. In the end it relies much more on spin than a declaration of truth. And though peer review happens occasionally in journalism, it's not a requirement. A journalist does not a scientist make.

Heard the show but couldn't get around to commenting before today really. First off great job BA! Second off listening to Hoagland's ego inflate even more afterwards I couldn't help but wonder if we should get a BABBler to "campaign" like he is for NASA Administrator. Any takers?

Last night I listened to C2C callers on my way home from work. There was one who wondered if George had any guests who could talk about astronomical phenomena. George said there was only one guy who could address that subject, I forget the name George popped off, but it wasn't Phil Plait.

I wonder what that was about? I'd be curious. Anyway, when they called me today, I suggested they talk to David Morrison, since he's an expert. But he wasn't available.

I went back and listened to the archived show and I believe the caller that is being referred to was asking about wormholes. The caller believed that he had seen one and was wondering if there was any one that could explain wormholes as well as other astronomical phenomena. George Noory said the only person he could think of that could explain such phenomenon is Michio Kaku.

I don't know much about Kaku. I have heard him on the radio before, and to be honest, from what I have heard, I think his ideas are a little too "out there" sometimes to explain things to the average listener. He is very popular, and that may very well be deserved, but I am pretty sure I'd explain wormholes significantly differently than he would. :-)

=D> Yeah, that was it. The guy was wondering if he had seen a distant galaxy magnified by a wormhole. George kinda blew him off, but I still thought the BA would have been a good person to ask. Wormholes are often the subject of excruciatingly Bad Astronomy in TV and Film.
