Give it up for the Paralympics!

You enjoyed the Olympics, now about to start is the Paralympics!
For the first time, US TV is to feature these Games, which will be of special interest to disabaled Bauters.
But don't think that you are ablebodied - they won't interest you.
Forget the 'inspirational' aspect of enormous acheivement; these sports are very exciting indeed.
Look out for wheel chair basketball

and even more so, rugby, AKA 'murderball'!

    Enjoy!

I hope they get good coverage in US. I am considered able-bodied (at least at the moment) but I'm interested in watching them.

Not much interest here - would you be more interested if I told you to watch out, the superhumans are coming?

This is the PARAlympic Games - the PARAllel, different-to and not the-same-as-the-Olympic Games.
No faux-Grecian connection, even lighting the Paralympic Flame was on all four of the highest peaks in the UK, carried in relay to the capitals of the four nations and on to Stoke Mandeville, the hospital for spinal injuries where these Games started and where the flames were combined. It's on its way today towards London and the Olympic Park.

The broadcaster for the Paralympics is Channel 4, not the BBC, so follow events here: http://paralympics.channel4.com/

You do know how many US Paralympians are veterans?
The Games were visted today by US General Martin Dempsey Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Of the 227 US Paralympians, 17 are veterans.
