    St Ex was not just a writer who took up aviation to support the pen; he was one of the leading aviators of his day, pioneering routes for Aeropostale in North Africa and South America.

    His books Night Flight and Wind, Sand, and Stars are classics. He also may have been one of very few writers banned for political reasons in both Vichy and Free French territory.
