    The book 'Rocket Men'

Those visors worn by the astronauts who landed on the moon were black not to show human face.
If one looks at the visor they wouldn't be able to see the face. The book 'Rocket Men' states that was deliberate in the fabrication of the helmets It was done by NASA to avoid having aliens see a human face in case of any possible hostile contact.

Is that true? Did NASA think there might be aliens on the Moon? Ok, but why not show the human face?
If anything, the humans would be scared of the alien creatures; just as humans dont like spiders, roaches, snakes, bugs, etc.

Can you verify the title/author of the book you're citing and provide a reference (page number) for that citation?

Oh...and the visors were not black.

In the mean time, here's some information about the Lunar Extravehicular Visor Assembly (LEVA).

It's all about shielding the astronauts' faces from the Sun, not prying alien eyes.

I have a book called "Rocket Men: The Epic Story of the First Men on the Moon" and I don't recall anything about the visors and aliens.

You must be reading another version of "Rocket Men", because my copy says nothing remotely resembling what you posted...

A quick google search turns up this image which shows that is simply not true.

Are you talking about this book?

    The Rocket Men:
Vostok & Voskhod. The First Soviet Manned Spaceflights
by Rex Hall and Dave Shayler

ETA: And which I haven't read so I don't know if it speaks to the black visor topic, even in passing. But the summary leads me to think it's fairly straight-forward.

In The Rocket Men authors Rex Hall and Dave Shayler review this Soviet demonstration of technological progress from both the developmental and operational aspects which were clouded in secrecy and in direct contrast to the high profile American programme. As the one-man Mercury spacecraft gave way to the two-man series on the American road to the Moon with Apollo, the multi-crewed Voskhod series which followed the single-seat Vostok was expected to compete with the Gemini programme. By developing the experience and techniques required to send cosmonauts to the Moon the series was planned as a stepping stone to the Soyuz and Zond lunar programmes then under development which would race Apollo to the Moon.

But that's a picture with the visor up. I'm sure they made sure that aliens weren't around before they raised thier visor.
