Asteroid 434 Hungaria will transit Asteroid 279 Thule during the morning of 2012 AUG 08 for observers along a very narrow path. It will be a nighttime event in the Pacific Ocean and a daytime event in South America including northern Rio de Janeiro. My map can be found at www.CurtRenz.com/asteroids

The magnitudes are printed at the top of my chart. The event will be tough to see even to the north of Rio, since it will occur there during the daytime. The most favored sites will be far northwest of you in Ecuador before sunrise.
