    Favorite Olympics Event?

My boys have been glued to the TV set for the Olympics. Normally, I wouldn't let them watch this much TV, but Olympics falls in to the ever shrinking category of good TV.

They enjoyed Archery and Dressage and today we are watching Water Polo. I am not even sure what teams are playing at the moment. The boys don't even care who is playing.

    What is your favorite event?

I'm not sure I have a favorite, but I do like the more unusual ones. I don't find Olympic basketball or football/soccer interesting; it really isn't any different than those sports are normally.

I did like watching Archery and Volleyball. I haven't seen any Weightlifting yet, but that's usually interesting. I was watching Kayaking yesterday and that was pretty neat.

I understand Great Britain is expected to take the gold in queuing.

I like the track and field stuff the best, decathalon, hammer toss, pole vault, long jump, hurdles, etc...

I've heard they're very competitive in the Hide and Seek competition as well.

Volleyball, beach volleyball, swimming, diving, track & field, equestrian and more.

According to other media reports and late night talk show hosts, NBC is going for gold in tape-delaying events.

My favourite Olympic event to date was the female endurance Cycle race.

Three broke away from the peleton with guts and determination and
went on to claim Gold, Silver and Bronze.

That was a great race; and in pouring rain too.

I have decided that I do not like any form of diving. I understand the athletes are far beyond what I consider to be skilled, but every time I see someone's head whip past the platform, my stomach flips.

Dressage. Mainly because it sounds like a French name for something dirty.

I like the bikini contest. Wait, that's not an Olympic event.

...Why isn't that an Olympic event?

Except this year they have decided to concentrate more on the volleyball aspect of the bikini contest. Time will tell how well that works for them.

    It even made the news.

Another team wore long-sleeved shirts with the word "BRA" helpfully printed on them.
I am confused by Water Polo. Am I hearing a whistle from another event or is this the audience using whistles? It seems to be pretty random and doesn't match up with play.

I ran track in high school and college, so I've always had a fondness for any of the track and field events, particularly the 110m and 400m hurdles.

I, also "appreciate" olympic events featuring girls in skimpy "outfits".

So swimming, volleyball, diving...did I miss any?

Topless table tennis? No, wait, that's a winter sport.

I believe that whistling sound is coming from the snorkels the horses have to use.

Now that would be a sport I could get into, I wouldn't want to clean the pool afterwards though.

I watch all the beach volleyball I can. It is very enjoyable. Don't ask me who is playing or what the score is because I have no idea. In addition to that, I was very interested in archery because my daughter's archery coach is the team leader for the US team.

I was going to make some snide comment re. trampoline competition, which I just turned on the TV...

Then I started watching it, and these guys are really flying...they must be going 30/35 feet up into the air.

Having the volleyball players wear hoop skirts would add an extra variable to the game and would silence any objection to the bikinis.

But if they use all the hoops for skirts, how will the basketball teams keep score?

I'm not sure. Perhaps its time for a new hybrid Olympic sport where the basketball players chase skirts while the girls keep playing their own game at the same time.
