    2 Million Posts

We are quickly approching 2 million posts to the board....at present we are at "around" 1,994,370.

Anyone want to speculate when we'll reach 2 million?....a little less than 6,000 posts from "now"?

Didn't we do this already? Current posts are numbered a bit less than 2,050,000.

Hmmm...I see 1,994,370 at the moment....where are you getting the 2,050,000 number from?

I see numbers over 2,000,000 when clicking on the post numbers in the thread. IE:

Huh....at the bottom of the main page (statistics) it has a different number. I wonder if that means some posts are missing.

The difference could be the spammers that we don't see or items in the mod cue.

There's not reason not to celebrate. Part of the the reason I asked was because I wasn't sure where your number was coming from (though I see it now).

So let's do this. We had a thread for BAUT's 2,000,000th post, and now we've got one for CQ's 2,000,000th post. (insert grin here)

Those are all counted, I'm pretty sure. However, not all post numbers have associated posts--a post could've been made, and then deleted by its owner for instance.

I think post#1 didn't exist soon after the old BABB went live:
    http://cosmoquest.org/forum/showthre...nted?p=1#post1
    but post#2 is still around:

Soft deleted posts may still be counted, but hard deleted ones definitely won't be.

The counter is there for a reason... why not celebrate?

Anyway, given the posting frequency here, I predict the counter on the front page will hit 2,000,000 on August 13th.

Since about 12 hours ago, that count has increased by 200....so your "prediction" could be spot on.

I personally have no prediction...although the 18th would be nice. (smilee 37th anniversary face)

I wonder at what point CQ collapses into a super-dense discussion forum?

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.
There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

In fact, it's just happened for the second time! ((BABB + UT) + CQ) = CQBAUT!

    LoL
If we had mailed them, instead of posting them electronically, we could have probably solved the US Postal Services budget problems <grin>

Well, last time around, I got all technical and tried to predict the date and time eight days in advance, and you can see how that turned out. (Smiley)

The last post on that thread, from Coelacanth on March 20th, says, "...and it just hit 2 million, in 2012." So I guess we can ignore this thread. <smiley>
