    Marked - confirmed window

I would strongly suggest that you get rid of the immediate confirmed on those that you mark. Why? the last 140 odd that I have marked come ujp as confirmed this can only mean that the frame has been viewed a number of times. this gives a negative feedback loop to the marker if after spending hours marking only to see that it has been done before. This could/would lead to many giving up. The greatest motivator of all is discovery / being the first. What is the solution? give each marker a number of first views or, as mentioned above, do away with the immediate feedback?
I have been marking since the beginning and with ice hunters.

    Good point.
I will Point this to the rest of the team.
But It is needed to confirm others work.
And I think it wod be fun if you now and again got to be the first to look at a pic.

And welcome to the form Robert.

    Hi All,

I understand what you mean about wanting to be the first to discover something, but there are different feedback mechanisms at play. Our goal is to have 8 or more people look at each image and mark objects, and we give priority to following up on things marked by multiple people. People looking at these images then have two very different sets of reactions (and needs)

On one hand, people are motivated to be the first person to discover something, so they are frustrated when they are very rarely first to mark something.

On the other hand, people want to know that they are doing things right, and they want to have their marks confirmed.

(And we want people who mark hundreds of things that aren't right to know quickly that they aren't doing things right by seeing none of their marks are getting confirmed).

It is most important for us to let people know they are doing things right, and their marks are getting confirmed.

Since we need 1) Many people to see each image, and 2) We want to give people feedback when their results statistically match other people's results, we have the system set up to give feedback. This is an honest system, and honest to me is really important.

    Does this make sense?

    Cheers,
    Pamela

    M & Confirmed

Many thanks for the feedback. I accept what has been said and agree given the numbers, both here and on Ice Hunters, individuals are keen to know if they are making the correct assessment. However, and this is just a pers viewpoint, I take it there is a database which has the marked items so is it poss to have markers presented with a mixture of new and marked items?
thanks and have an uncomplicated day
    Robert
BTW "P" have you gotten anything further on R.Maherjinqiu.
