What would you like to see tomorrow?

I would really like to see a course, or content, about Astronomy Data Mining for Dummies. I'm a programmer who dreams of doing scientific programming someday, but at home, not professionally. Problem is, I don't have the academic background to understand the data and I probably never will, at least, not anytime soon.

Maybe a place to get started, a helping hand. Someone to say, "We're looking for the largest sum of X and Y in this dataset." So we can get busy contributing code without necessarily understanding high energy physics.
