Back in the early 80's I read an article in Discover magazine about the guy who invent the circular laser, that fired a ring of laser light outwards. Something that up until then was thought impossible. After that bereakthrough the scientist in question said he was going to next try and develope a spherical laser, an orb that projects coherent light in all directions.
Well, it's been thirty odd years, does anybody know if this guy had any success?
Because if he was successful, boy, do I have some questions about the geometry of the photon paths at distance.
