Same here. The company that took us over thought they had great ideas on how things should be run. Our product was iconic in the northeast US due to the many of the individual brokers who put in the extra time to make sure our product was always filled in the cases and always available. The new company promptly got rid of those brokers (it wasn't part of the way THEY did business) and our sales plunged, I mean absolutely plunge. Simply due to their delivery people not knowing their customers anywhere near as well as the brokers.
Which I supposed help them. When they had to cut back, due to lowered profits, it allowed them to get rid of all those people who didn't have the college degrees, the new company thought their positions required. The production lines almost fell apart, due to all the experience that had left. By that time, many of the other experienced people had left, due to the more structured atmosphere that had been put into place in the offices. The company is still working through some of the issues, nearly five years later.
I appreciate the merger stories (I've been there too) but let's not sidetrack this thread too much. Thanks,
I think the merger would be good thing, well at least I am hoping.
So Pamela, a question that was asked but not answered: will external links to posts/threads here stay living after the merge?
A bit of googling shows 23,000+ external pages with links to the forum, many to individual threads, and it will be a disaster for its impact, which is what you're trying to import to cq, if those links stop working.

Hi All,
Yes, all links and images will survive. The may not be immediately there (bug smashing takes time) but they will all eventually be there. I'm a little worried that if someone linked to an image in a post, that link may take longer to sort than anything else, but links to posts, threads, boards etc are all things I know how to solve immediately (which means, code immediately and then stare at server and knit while server updates. I wish that were a joke).
There is a very tentative decision that the merger will happen some time late evening, North American time on Tuesday 10 July (so early morning Wednesday UT). This will probably make BAUT unavailable for at least several hours. However, this timeline is not yet finalized.
There should be further decisions and information in the next several hours.
It is a lot less tentative now. We will shut down the forum sometime close to 7PM EDT (23:00 UT) Today.
If things go smoothly it will be up and working ten or less hours later.
There is a possibility that things will go badly, in which case the old forum will be restored, and we'll try again later.
I strongly suggest not posting anything you care about after 4PM EDT, as there will be a snapshot taken for the merge process.
The times mentioned above are not precise, but are targets.

Well in case it all goes wrong it has been
nice knowing all of you. Pity I was not able
to convince any of you of certain ideas of
mine but heck, truth will out. Surely there
are plenty of new potential jokes in that
forum so here's hoping for smooth transitions.
Et tu BAUT? Quantum mutatus ab illo.
Hurry up and do it already.
Yes, I have seen ToSeek's announcement thread.
Onward! Onward!
Patience grasshopper.

What? Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
Pippin: I didn't think it would end this way.
Gandalf: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path... One that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass... And then you see it.
Pippin: What? Gandalf?... See what?
Gandalf: White shores... and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.
Pippin: [smiling] Well, that isn't so bad.
Gandalf: [softly] No... No it isn't.

I've just had an error message: the BAUT software seems to think there is a problem with the AE35 unit, and it will go 100%failure in 2 hours....
