I heard there were a few episodes that were never aired in the US. Does anyone know if this show had an actual ending or did it get canceled in the middle of the series?

Yes, I saw that Showtime was playing episodes of "Odyssey 5" on Friday nights (repeated on Sunday), but I assumed they were repeats. Little did I know that there were actually 20 episodes made and the series was cancelled about halfway through its run.![]()
Recently I've stumbled upon this little note from Scifi.com:

Showtime launched Odyssey 5 in June, 2002, but sent the series into limbo halfway through its 20-episode run. It now returns with back-to-back new episodes, so viewers no longer have to wonder about the fate of the crew and their attempt to prevent the imminent destruction of the Earth. The final episodes of the series will air weekly, with the series finale on October 15.

I, of course, missed ALL of the new ones they've shown recently because Showtime decided to keep these new ones a top secret (like they did with the last few episodes of "Jeremiah"...though I was keeping an eye out for that one and DID get to see them). I don't know if I'll watch the rest (only four more, I guess). I'll look into a DVD, though, if they ever release it. I kind of enjoyed the show.
I've got Showtime On Demand, so I've been watching all of those back to back.
I'm enjoying the hell out of this show!
We were lucky in the UK and got to see the complete first (and sadly only) season all the way through when it was first shown. Loved the show. The last couple of episodes (IIRC) set it up for what would have been a great run, but the Powers That Be (tm) cancelled it.![]()
Why? Were the ratings that low?Originally Posted by Fortis
i had heard that it was the highest rating show in its timeslot, but was canceled because the network 'wanted to move away from sci-fi' cant remember the source or if it was legit. Doesnt make much sense does it?
That doesn't make any sense at all. High ratings mean high revenue. Did you hear it (read it) from someone who worked for the station? If so they were covering up the real reason (which could have been anything, including internal fighting they didn't want to make public).Originally Posted by Invader Spleen
Okay,.. so this goes onto 20 episodes. Showtime On Demand has the first 15, so I'm waiting to see the last five.
Is it safe to assume the 20th episode isn't the end? That it will still seem as if it was canceled in the middle of the story?
And if this is true all I can say is, "Why? Dear God... WHYYYYY???"
"WHYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!"
'fraid so.Originally Posted by AKONI

Okay, I just saw episode 19, with only one more to go, and I CANNOT BELIEVE THEY CANCELED THIS SERIES!!!
I believe in Martians more than I believe in the logic of canceling Odyssey 5!!!
