As some of you may remember, I posted here a couple months back about a "negative mass interpretation of general relativity". What I didn't mention in the posting was that the theory is qualitatively equivalent to Lorentz's aether theory. The equations are so complicated that it is easy to lose sight of what they physically mean, and I was wondering whether anyone would pick up on it. That no one did puts me in a bit of a Catch 22. Although I think I have a decent grasp on the equations, I am not quite at the education level yet where I can write a paper with the appropriate terminology to make it past most editors concerning general relativity. Last one stated that the paper was "regretfully" not "within the scope" of their journal, and recommended yet another journal. In order to to be able to write a grant proposal for this as a thesis topic, however, I also need to clearly state explanations of why I should be funded. Or just lie. Is hiding my true intentions the best course to take?
Anyhow, here is a new comparison of General Relativity with my take on Lorentz's Aether Theory. While there are quite a few people that were involved formulating relativity (Fitzgerald, Poincare, Minkowski, etc.) it is my opinion that Lorentz was the main architect and should be honored for holding out on aether theory. In my view, one tiny concept stopped him. General Relativity has "Spacetime tells matter how to move; matter tells spacetime how to curve", whereas Lorentzian Aether has the fundamental theorem of calculus and the accelerating expansion. All end results being equal within a certain range, I choose math and empirical evidence over faith and dogma. Let me know if this also casts any doubts into you and what you think it needs to catch someone's eye (besides, of course, a complete mathematical unification of quantum field theory and gravity. That is what the research would study. I am not looking for help with the math, given enough funding and time I intend to hand over the general equations on a silver platter.) If I tried crowdsourcing my funding, what would you have to see in order to donate?

these gradients distort the wavefunction (so that

The gradient which the wave travels along is the path in which the wave function retains
maximum symmetry (probably balanced Hamiltonian). This is
the same thing as a straight path.

When an aether wave moves or is in some combination of "matter",

it collapses into the symmetric form of what is perceived as a particle.
Quantum mechanics implies that there are no actual particles. Waves that propagate but not dissipate.
Newtonian Gradient Approximation
The accelerating expansion is due to a "dark energy", which opposes attractive
action-at-a-distance Newtonian gravity, and is most likely the cosmological constant.
Prior to the discovery of the accelerating expansion, all matter in the universe attracted all other matter in the universe.
If one integrates the energy for the quantum vacuum down to the Planck length, the amount of energy
that should gravitate (as Einstein states that all energy and mass gravitate) could be
than what is empirically observed.
The majority of mass is not in the nucleus of an atom, but in the large empty spaces outside of it.
Other theory is "quintessence" (old name for the aether).
In Lorentzian aether, gravity is more of a reduced repulsion between "masses", than an increasing attraction.
At the distance determined by
, the repulsion is no longer reduced,
the symmetric wave functions are no longer affected by other wave functions, and regions
that are not gravitationally bound to each other become repulsive.
The amount of gravity is due to wave superposition and density, and not due to the
potential energy of the aether. Should a virtual particle pair pop into existence, and then
back out, they only exhibit gravitational distortion while in existence.
Dark matter is a theoretical particle required to explain rotation curves
and amount of gravitational lensing of galaxies.
It was not predicted by the standard model of particle physics and must
be a new type of matter (or hidden stars etc.). It appears to be homogeneously spread throughout
(all?) galaxies. It has not been detected yet, but effects observed. Required
since the stress energy tensor of GR curves space-time or mass attracts
Aether waves may distort the aether, but not out of the
question that the aether can be distorted by dynamic effects.
Nobody studies aether theories.
Quintessence (noted by Bernard Schutz as the old name of the aether)

It does not appear that changing the concept of
has been attempted.
