Well after 10+ years I finally made the Order of Kilopi.
Well after 10+ years I finally made the Order of Kilopi.
Yay!
I should see what the record is for taking the longest time to reach kilopi.
Everything I need to know I learned through Googling.
Still has a while before he can use that washroom, the key is just a tease.
I already congratulated you in the secret Kilopi forum, but once again, congrats! About time too!!![]()

DID BABB have post counts 10 years ago? I forget when the BA installed PHP forum software.
Et tu BAUT? Quantum mutatus ab illo.
Congratulations!![]()
October 2001 is when post counts started, with a few lost to the board change, UT merger, and the OTB purge.
Congrats jrkeller
ETA: of course, since your join date was five months later, there's only a small number of earlier users who have even acheved kilopi. Let's see, Torsten will someday make it, and it will be the record when he does. If Chip does it more than one day later, he'll be the record holder after that.
Congrats!

Tell me about it. And it's quite a ways to the other washroom. I've never ran so fast in my life.
I want to say that was Cougar, but maybe I'm wrong. I am fairly certain that whoever it was made kilopi. grapes may need to recheck his math.![]()
Congratulations Oldtimer!
Yeah, it'll be awhile yet for me... I tend to just read. I've composed a lot of posts and then trashed them because I thought they were dumb. As I recall, I lost about 10 posts in the merge. I only had a little over a hundred at the time, and it knocked my count back down to less than 100.
It was Colt. He last posted a little over four years ago. He has 1424 posts.
I see another one, Anonymous, is now in there too with a registration date of January 1, 1970, and with 128 posts.
Which, for the interested, means UNIX Epoch zero. Try calculating the human date for epoch 0 (zero) using a nice online converter. IIRC it means, in this case, that the user didn't actually sign up to the old BBAB forum... but that's so long ago that I might remember wrong.
Epoch 3141593 was Fri, 06 Feb 1970 08:39:53 GMT
Epoch 31415927 was Wed, 30 Dec 1970 14:38:47 GMT
Epoch 314159265 was Sun, 16 Dec 1979 02:27:45 GMT
Epoch 3141592654 will be Sun, 21 Jul 2069 00:37:34 GMT (!)

Colt was back on BABB and I went and did some searches into the ancient part of the BAUT archives and found the following. I didn't find anything specific, but the following seems to be a consistent story from the bits and pieces I found from various different threads and posts. Colt's join date was December 31, 1969. Under the old BABB board, the date field with a 0 meant January 1, 1970 (similar to UNIX). But, the board software also somehow tied it into the time. Colt lived (and may still live) in Alaska and was probably 10 or 11 hours behind GMT. When he did register, from what I could gather, the system took his time into account and took the 0 in the date field as January 1, 1970 and moved it back one day to December 31, 1969 to match his current time being one day behind GMT. I do see that when he was moved over to BAUT, the date was changed to January 1, l1970.
grapes? ToSeek? Do you remember anything else? I thought there was something about his date going backwards, but I couldn't find anything about it. Of course, I do remember that we lost some posts, so the discussion about his join date moving backwards may be in those lost posts.
I see him as having joined January 1st 1970, so I think it's likely a lot simpler, he's registered as joining at unixtime=0, which is January 1st 1970 midnight GMT.
People with 0 or positive timezones will see that as January 1st 1970, people with negative GMT offsets will see it as December 31, 1969.

The latest merger put me below the kilopi limit, but now I'm back.
Really? We lost posts? Or, was that the Post-your-dinner thread?
I'm not sure if anybody has told you yet, but I'm the treasurer of the order, and there's a rule that you have to pay order dues for each year you've belonged to the board without joining the order. The first year is free, but the second year is 100 euros (standard rate), and it increases exponentially after that, so the second year is 100 ^2 euros, etc. I tried to figure out how much you owe but my calculator ran out of digits.
As above, so below
