Mars Society Chapter in Bulgaria Established

The Bulgarian Chapter of the Mars Society was officially established today in Sofia, the capital of the Balkan nation. Initially begun as a Facebook group, the new organization held its inaugural meeting at the Rectorate of the University of Sofia.

Among the founders of the new chapter are Mikhail Mateev, an engineer, Georgi Draganov, a university student, Nikolay Tzoney, a Ph.D. student and Svetoslav Alexandrov, a popular science writer.

The primary mission of Mars Society Bulgaria is to encourage the robotic and human exploration of the planet Mars, engage in education and public outreach, and participate in projects related to space exploration, including constructing Mars rovers and launching high-altitude scientific balloons.

For more details about the new chapter, please email the organization.

The Mars Society (U.S.) would like to extend its congratulations to the founders of the new Mars Society Bulgaria chapter and commend them on their hard work in establishing the group. We wish them much success in their endeavors.

Yes, I'm from out there. Bulgaria, I mean. Not Mars. And I made it to the meeting.

I guess the establishment of the Mars Society of Mars would really be something.

I suggest comparing Zvezdichko's signature with the list of founders. (And his avatar with the picture in the linked article.)

"Popular science writer" is nicely ambiguous, isn't it?
(English is not my first language, so please excuse any mistakes and unintended ambiguities.)

So I guess that you think Svetoslav Alexandrov from BAUT is not the same Svetoslav Alexandrov from Mars Society.

    You are wise
