I couldn't decide whether this post should go here, or in the Planet X forum, but it seems to fit in either, so what the hey?
At any rate, about 10-15 years ago I remember quite clearly seeing a news report on my local network affiliate (either in Ann Arbor, MI, or Honolulu, HI, I was maybe 7-10 years old at the time, so the details are sketchy) stating that astronomers had actually located the planet. Now, of course, this could not be true, since, of course, it hasn't been discovered. I remember quite clearly them using the term "Planet X". This, in fact, is how the term entered my vocabulary, long before I rediscovered it on this site.
So, I know the report to be untrue. I'm simply wondering if anybody remembers anything occuring around that time period that would lead a news station to make such a nutty announcement. This has been driving me crazy for weeks, so I'd appreciate any thoughts that anybody might have.
*edit* Ahh, I should also mention that it could not possibly have been sparked by the '83 Washington Post article that Phil mentions in his Planet X debunking. I was still in the womb for most of '83, and the reception was terrible.
