Thames Water have discovered the cure for drought: Impose a hose-pipe ban.

As soon as the ads start appearing, we entered what feels like one of the wettest months we've had. It was obvious the luck of Thames Water. They spend a bomb putting big ads up everywhere telling us about the ban, and then everyone gets to view them as they're soaked through so the company looks stupid.

I quite like this weather. After a good rain shower, there is a smell of freshness in the air. The sky is often very clear (seeing is rubbish though). And the showers and storms are fun to look assuming you're indoors.

More rain is forecast for the next week. Wales is going to get a drenching apparently.

No. I sometimes contemplated getting a cat though. They seem lower maintenance. And I'm amused by their freakiness.

We just had two all night rain storms.

Came at us from the south which is at odds with the usual westerlies. Went and laid out the lawn fertilizer at my parent's house in time for the showers to water it in.

But this should be the last rain we get until September/October.

I think I heard the weather forecast say they they were expecting a month's worth of rain this weekend. Some drought.

I used to live in a place it only rained for three months of the year. The downside was, it rained for three months.

I feel rather smug here. I moved from the UK to Tenerife, where in my corner of the island it has rained once (slightly) in the last year.

This means that cars can get very dusty, but everybody except all Germans and some English people have a very sensible attitude: they just don't care.
