    Here ya go... but I predict it will take at least ten questions to guess this.
    It's a tool that was given to me about 50 years ago.
    Guess what the purpose of the tool is.

    It is not marked us military, and it looks mass produced. There are wear marks at the business end that make it look like a stamp, but there is a spring keeping it in its position. It could be a quick-release handle.

    It's engraved with:::

    NEW BRITAIN
    MADE IN USA
    SS2

    Yes there are wear marks on the business end but I'm not sure what you mean by "stamp"... and when held by the handle-end and properly activated... the tension of the spring is released allowing the tool to then be used for its intended purpose.

    That looks like a hot item. As Isaac Asimov might say, there
    is no match for such a device. It looks like something our man
    Flint might own.

    Don't know the technical term - it's a doogummy that holds the head of a screw while you start it in the hole.

    "Tinzuiger" in Dutch, can't think of the proper English word for it.

    I would have recognized the solder sucker. I had to guess at
    your screw starter, and guessed wrong. Was it part of a set or
    was it all by itself?

    I'd like to have that as a drill attachment.

    As far as I know it wasn't part of a set... and I don't think I've ever used it for its intended purpose... I use magnetized screwdriver tips instead.

    The magnetized type are very handy.

    You could also just use a star or square drive, which holds the screws very nicely. The only trouble is that they break more easily than flat heads, and you cannot get the screws out with a butter-knife.

    I still have a butter knife with a crooked tip from using it as a screwdriver

    Guess what the image below is.
    I put a yardstick by it... and you can't tell because the image is cropped... but the total length of the item is 13 inches.

    NEW CLUE:::
    The yellow thing is a button that releases a compressed stretched spring

    Champion guesser WINS again!

    My previous clue was incorrect... the yellow button releases a spring which has been stretched (not compressed). A second spring returns the plunger-handle to its extended position as shown in the photo.

    I don't have a computer so I have to go to the Library and use their computer to upload pics from my memory card. In the meantime... how about you or someone else "enter" a pic so I can guess too
