Even though I've seen it any number of times, today I read "End of Invention in Sight" as Invention of Sight.

edit- I must be dyslexic today, I just had to correct my spelling of number from- munber.

    Will children born in 2012...

    by
    noncryptic
I read it as "Will children born in 2012 be noncryptic?" And the other side of my brain thought "Why should they be, no other children ever are!"

I've read "Getting fly strip adhesive off of cat fur?" as "Getting flight strip adhesive off of cat fur?". I got this mental image of planes landing on emergency runways covered with glue to allow for very short runways. Then I realized my mistake.

    Could cheerful ferrets be...

    by
    Torsten
I glanced at this and thought it said "Could cheerful ferrets be toasted?

Depending on how you interpret the last word, the ferrets would either be uncheerful, or very cheerful indeed...

Not a thread title, but I saw a headline in which a bunch of people were killed by Spanish food. They were actually killed by a Spanish flood.
I wish I knew all those years ago that simply joining this board and proclaiming myself to be rational would magically transform my uninformed opinions into science; it would have saved me a lot of time and effort.

I've almost been killed by Spanish food on Tenerife. Food poisoning... It did cause what might be called a Spanish flood, which I won't get into (haha).

Not a thread title, but a comment:

publiusr (ESA’s Big Cargo Ship Departs from the Space Station)
Zvezda BTW was going to be the core block of Mir II before becoming an ISS segment.
I read that as pregnant. I thought, "Who is Zvezda? She's a pregnant cosmonaut??"

Yes it's late afternoon Sunday, I'm half brain dead from a long week of work.

I've always thought that the word "panspermia" is a funny sounding word. I think it would be fun to ask people, who didn't know it, what it meant.

"An alternate way to the Moon"

I read this and think of some fellow on the side of a country road giving directions to the Moon: "OK, you're going to head down this side-road about 15,000 kilometers till you come to this old red barn. Make a left there and keep going till you pass the crick..."
