Just for the record, rand45, I'm always willing to help those who show signs of learning and willingness to research. Research does not include using a youtube video as your sole reference. It also does not include using bits of content of the very same video as some sort of evidence. I see by your other threads that you have been given plenty of advice about this, none of which you appear to have taken.

In light of that and seeing you barely answered any of the key questions I posed above, in particular the first one about how you stumbled upon this.. I for one won't be clicking on your threads again.

Who cares what a random youtube person says?
    1. We have no clue which direction it is because there is no discernable reference in the video.
    2. He said the government is covering it up? That's the automatic NO-NO in my book. If the government is covering it up, then EVERY GOVERNMENT IN THE WORLD would have to cover it up, and silence EVERY SCIENTIFIC AND SCHOLASTIC INSTITUTION in the world.

Because he's an idiot with an agenda?

OK - I gave this five minutes of my life (that I won't get back) before my brain started to implode.

I'll ignore the fact that every second sentence is wild and utterly unsupported speculation, and instead just point out that I live 60km south of Newcastle (NSW) where this is supposed to have been filmed. The Big Dipper cannot be seen from this southern latitude.

However, if I give this guy the benefit of the doubt and assume that he hasn't video'd his next door neighbour's porch light, then Jupiter in October last year was not too far from Pegasus, which I suppose has a vaguely dipper-ish appearance and is just visible in the low Northern sky. The reference to IC1791 is just nonsense to try and give the babble some kind of stamp of authority.

Rand45, do you acknowledge that this idiot video you linked to is all wrong?

And will you do anything different before starting another thread about some crackpot's video or website?

One of the southern constellations is colloquially known as the Big Dipper, at least that is what my mum called it. Quite possibly Pegasus but it has been a while.

A fellow coastie! How bad has the weather been??

I worked for a number of years at the public-access observatory at Koolang (out near Bucketty). During that time, I occasionally heard quite a number of layfolk visitors describe that well-known asterism in Orion (the 'Saucepan') as 'The Dipper'. However, I thought that Jupiter at that time was closer to Pegasus than Orion which is why I mentioned it. Still, the rest of the video is such nonsense that trying to interpret his meaning is difficult - he really could have been talking about anything!

Bad weather? You mean air isn't meant to be wet all the time?

I agree about the video but this thread hasn't been a total loss.. I just discovered I have a local public observatory! Woohoo.
