    2012 Quadrantid Meteors

At Frosty Drew Observatory we had a fantastic presentation from the Quadrantid meteor shower this morning. Though the 9 degree temps with 0 degree wind chill kept most indoors. I captured this shot with 2 Quadrantid meteors visible. Clearly at top left (in Coma Berenices), and a short, dim meteor at bottom center (in Virgo).

Mars is also visible top right (bright red star), Coma Berenices, Virgo, Arcturus (Bright beige star on left), most of Corvus (bottom right)

Camera: Modified (CHDK) Canon S95, custom intervalometer script, 10" exposure, ISO 800.

    Hi Hellobozos,

I know the meteor you are talking about and this is not it. You are talking about what may have been the brightest meteor we saw that night that cranked right above Mars through Leo. I did not actually capture that meteor but I did capture the dust trail that it left. Here is a link to a time-lapse I created that shows the dissipation of that dust trail.

Btw, great shots yourself! Not as cold in FL as it was in RI but still cold for FL.
