I have a picture similar to yours but of this location at low tide. It's of Grand Pre Nova Scotia looking over the Minas Basin. Here's an example (not mine).

At low tide it looks very much like your picture...

It is artificial. It was caused by the Martian Beaver dam (located just out of frame).

I'm sorry, but I find "Martian Beaver dam" absolutely hysterical.

I might need a vacation.
