Please help me find an online star chart

So I've been noticing a bright star over the last few weeks. <edit: it's the bightest star I can see> Last night it appeared due south of the moon(I'm in Canada) and roughly 10 lunar diameters away.

    Is it Jupiter?

I do occasionally take pictures of the night sky(Canon S3IS) and stack them for fun. I also have 10x50 binoculars. Therefore, I'd like a star chart good enough to compare my 'astrophotos' to the real thing.

Please help me add a star chart to add to my bookmarks!

Google will turn up many, each different in some way. I'd be only guessing which is right for you. There are high powered free ones for your computer as well. No need to be on line. Cartes du Ciel is one of the most full featured ones. Runs on all platforms.

As to the object did you put binoculars on it? Apparently not. That would have answered your question.

The 'star' you're seeing sounds like Jupiter based on your description. Take Rick's advice and train your binocs on it. If it's Jupiter, you're in for a treat.

I wasn't home when i noticed how bright the star was; so i didn't have binocs.

I'll have to look at cartes du ciel. French is my first language so support shouldn't be a problem.

    Thanks all!

    For a quicky: http://heavens-above.com

First find your location, then add a bookmark, then explore the site. Try to catch a bright Iridium flare!

I used to use Skymaps.com when I was getting started - instead of viewing 'live' you just download a pdf for the current month in your hemisphere to print out and take with you to your observing site - it also has lots of observing ideas, which is a bonus..
