    Question Comet Elenin [again]

Ive been browsing the internet on updates about Comet Elenin, and i came across the site Examiner.com
    apparently...
Comet Elenin is an incoming spacecraft or intelligently controlled object according to a number of presenters at a recently completed conference hosted online by the popular whistleblower website - Project Camelot.

Continue reading on Examiner.com Is Comet Elenin an incoming spacecraft heralding a New Age? - Honolulu exopolitics | Examiner.com http://www.examiner.com/exopolitics-...#ixzz1RJhFKZwN
    also...
Elenin was an artificially controlled object responsible for widespread planetary changes in the solar system.
To me i think it is a load of rubbish, but what do YOU think?

Try replacing the word "whistleblower" with "crank" and see if it makes more sense

It is bad enough that we have idiocies like wikileaks, but if have people are making things up and pretending to be whistleblowers....

    It's a load of rubbish.

It WAS an artificially-controlled object? What is it now? Widespread planetary changes? How come not one single astronomer, professional or amateur, has said anything at all about these changes?

Consider the source. From the Wikipedia article about Examiner.com:
Examiner.com has been criticized for its lack of verification and fact-checking of stories published on the site...
    More rubbish about Comet Elenin.

May be because the mainstream astronomers, professionals or amateurs are not in the same "harmonic configurations"? Or "Unity consciousness" ? Or because their understanding of the "torsion fields that travel 109 times faster than light" is weak?"

Wow! Never saw so much of rubbish in one place!

Project Camelot is likely to be a for profit group that is trying to make money selling this nonsense. As Joseph Besserman said: "There is a sucker born every minute.....".

Who came up with the whole thing about Elenin anyway I know it was the crackpots but did they all get together and say well lets make people scared just because we can? what makes people think that it is any different from any other comet? am I missing something? can anybody shed any light on these questions?

In my eyes there is nothing to worry about at all I know I am not the only one but still there are people out there getting freaked out I just don't think they know exactly why they are getting freaked out :/

Not long after Elenin was discovered, the 2012/Planet X types grabbed onto it and did their YouTube videos. It spread from there. This is a comet that people might actually see, so it was mentioned in major newspapers, news sites, etc. (not mentioned as a danger, just mentioned as something that people might eventually see). It also had an easy to remember name. That made it easy for the 2012 types to notice and they made it their latest (out of literally dozens) of Nibiru candidates. It isn't even the first or only comet to get notice by the 2012/Planet X folks. Look up, for instance, comet Holmes, or James McCanney, who made a lot of ridiculous claims about comets years ago.

Same way as they are linking every natural calamity nowadays to some spurious pole shift idea.

ETA: Spurious is a very mild word I guess, but could not find something stronger.

You're welcome, but don't expect too much out of this comet - it might be visible, but it's questionable whether it will be very impressive. Probably not a great comet:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Comet

Then again, Great Comets aren't all that rare, so it's not that big a deal.

Heh. Yes, pole shift is one of the ideas that's been associated with the Planet X/Nibiru/2012 idea (galactic alignment claims are also popular). Sometimes these ideas are used independently of the planet X idea by the proponents. I don't expect the claims will stop in 2012 either. That will just reduce them somewhat.

Was this thread originally elsewhere on BAUT, or was it part of another thread? A couple of mods use the square brackets when they have to create a new thread and the thread needs a title, so as to indicate a moderator, not the member, created the title. But that's just a guess. If that is the case, they should have stuck an explanatory post in this thread, but sometimes "stuff" happens. Sorry if there was confusion.

Oh don't get me wrong I think it is a load of rubbish too but I am one of these people that needs to know when and why and who by just because I can LOL, I think its a way to scare people that don't know much about the universe and their threats they hear this comet is making things happen on earth and they panic withoout doing the right thing and looking for the right story and right information some people will never learn I guess :/

Personally I am looking forward to be able to seeing Elenin I know many other people are looking forward to seeing it, shame something so beautiful BUT dangerous at the best of times can be turned into something the public fears instead of enjoying it for what it is.......

anyway!!!! Van Rijn thank you so much for the link

been doing more browsing on this comet, and found this.

    http://www.space.com/12194-comet-ele...sday-2012.html

Apparently people think that comet Elenin is planet nibiru, and it has an oblong orbit that swings near Earth every 3,600 years.

One woman, Nancy Lieder, calls herself a contactee and claims
she has the ability to receive messages through an implant in her brain from aliens in the Zeta Reticuli star system
    her website is http://www.zetatalk.com/

let me know what you think

Oh Nancy. We've had lot of past discussions about her and Zetatalk and Planet X. Do a little searching on BAUT and you'll find lots of stuff. She has been spouting this stuff for about 10 years, and keeps moving her dates as her "predictions" fail to happen. Just one warning - you'll never think of Starburst candies quite the same ever again.

Here is a 2006 thread on Nancy and Planet X (which was about to arrive then), it would be a good place to start

    Zetatalk...
Now, if there was a price for having made the largest number of bogus claims and failed doomsday predictions per year, I guess these guys would be pretty strong contenders.

We had that comet come by our neighborhood in the 1996 time frame, huge sucker. It was a breif, but awesome spectacle, and I suspect would have had a much greater "effect" on the planet than this latest visitor.

Forgot it's name, just remember it was very large, seemed to span half the sky.

Are you thinking of comet Hyakutake? It wasn't a big comet, but yes, it did get (relatively speaking) close, which made up for size.

Yes, I thought of that one too. The 2012ers would have been heading for the hills if we had something like Hyakutake today (and never mind that it was never a threat either).

Hale Bopp I remember as being small, but relatively bright. Hyakutake, I went to a dark area, it was quite large.
Probably won't even be able to see this Elenin with the naked eye.

Nancy claimed it was a fake to distract people from Niburu which is coming to kill us in 20032012, while the Heaven's Gate'ers did theirs to improve the intelligence, and lower the gullibility of the human race little bit.

For the younger readers out there. There were claims that an UFO was following comet Hale-Bopp.

Mainly caused by an amateur astronomer who took a picture of it, couldn't determine what the star (SAO141894) next to it was because he'd configured his astronomy program wrong, then grabbed his 15 minuets by calling Coast to Coast AM with the story about how he'd spotted a UFO following Hale-Bopp.

I think Nancy Lieder began publicly "warning" about Planet X in the mid 90s. By 2006 she had pretty much abandoned the "Planet X is here/nigh" claims in favor of the "white lie" (her claim that the Zetans lied to her about when Planet X would arrive as a bluff in order to force the powers that were to play their hand). At places like GLP, she was already ignoring/avoiding any arguments countering the existence of Planet X and if/when it would arrive, and instead focused on any current world event that she could parlay into "proof" of its inexorable approach, and dispensing advice on surviving the calamity.
