Thread: I just got accepted into a PhD program!!!

I just got accepted into a PhD program!!!

... and it's so cool. Actually, it happened sooner than I expected. It turned out that our local Academy of Sciences is seeking for PhD students.

I applied, successfully passed my exams and I'm in!

For those you don't know - Countries that were part of the former Soviet Bloc have their own Academies of Sciences. For example, we have Russian Academy of Sciences... I got accepted into our local, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

So I have three years to produce some useful science and publish articles in journals, to write a thesis and after that I will become a PhD

    First of all, congratulations.

Second, since you are at the Academy and not at the Uni, and your time limit is 3 years vs. normal 5, I guess that you won't be doing any teaching? If so, good for you

As they say, be careful what you wish for, it might come true.

    Congratulations!

Do you have an idea what area/field you'll be doing your PhD in/on (generally, no need to give the fine details)?

Is having papers accepted for publication one of the criteria you need to meet, in order to get your PhD?
