Dark Skies for McDonald
The State of Texas Legislature has just passed a bill that requires light restrictions around the McDonald Observatory for a radius of 57 miles. This should help them enjoy the darkest skies for a major US observatory for some time to come, except when that country is on fire, of course.
Many of us in astronomy clubs helped with the campaign to get this done. We had little hope that it would pass, due to various circumstances including time constraints.
The Governor must sign it into law to make it official.
We know time flies, we just can't see its wings.
