    Torchwood: Children of Earth (Spoilers)

Just watched this series on recommendations from a friend..A few comments It was pretty harsh (in a good way). I was definitely tearing up at many points in the last episode.

No one should have to make the decisions that Capt Jack had to make, but I suppose that was one of the main points of the whole episode.

I really enjoyed but I think it could have been done in far fewer episodes (probably 3 instead of 5) I haven't watched any torchwood before, but have seen the characters on "The Stolen Earth" (and Jack on season 1 and 2)

All in all I liked it but wouldn't sit through it again, except maybe the last episode, if I feel like getting myself to the verge of crying.

Having a child of my own has done this too me I'd like to hear other opinions on this series if anyone would care to join the discussion Pete

There is already a thread about this miniseries, but it was a while ago.

I was utterly surprised by the high quality of this drama. Previous Torchwood episodes were generally terrible at best, and some people were using "Torchwood" as a modifier, e.g. "The decorator's work wasn't just bad, it was Torchwood bad. We had to get another decorator to redo the whole room."

Thanks Paul and Jim. I read through the thread. I can't believe a Torchwood thread got so heated!

Personally I thought it was great. It would have made a great 2 part episode I think. There was a lot of filler that wasn't necessary I thought

On an unrelated note, at the end "The End of Time", the Doctor gives Jack a not saying "His name is Alphonso" ...who is Alphonso?

Edit: I feel like changing my sig to "It wasn't just bad, it was Torchwood bad "

Alphonso was the young guy at the bar. He'd been in an another episode of Doctor Who -- I can't recall which one at the moment.

I got the first part, but I also don't recall the significance to the series and I don't recall the character at all in the seies

I've always loved the fact that Jack sexuality is...hmmm.... fluid

Okay. I had to go look up the character. It was Alonso Frame and he'd previously been in the Titanic "In Space" episode.

I have heard it was well done, but brutal in the choices to the characters felt forced to make.
