oh boy... we get to see Jar Jar in 3d..
why can't George just leave the movies be and maybe make some other movies that have nothing to do with Star Wars?
I say there is an invisible elf in my backyard. How do you prove that I am wrong?
The Leif Ericson Cruiser
Well...considering that in the past, that gave us less than stellar efforts like Howard the Duck, Willow and another dismal sequel to one of his better efforts (More American Graffiti ), maybe we can hope that George just leaves the movies be, and moves on to something else.
Hayden Christensen in 3D...YES!!!
Now my life is complete.![]()
What?! Lucas jumped on an opportunity to milk more money out of his beloved franchise at the expense of said franchise's credibillity?!?! . . . I'm in shock. I swear. No really. I am. What? Do I sound like I'm being sarcastic? I don't know why.
To quote Jurassic Park, Lucas was so preoccupied with whether or not he could, he didn't stop to think if he should. This goes for the 3D as well as a lot of the re-re-releases.
The Jar Jar costume didn't go down well at the adult parties... maybe it'll get a run for this.
*ahem* You're clearly forgetting both Natalie Portman and Carrie Fisher. Carrie really was gorgeous in those first three movies.
Ok, well a great man once said something along the lines of "You'll get yours baby, I'll get mine"
Well, I think it'll be cool.
Career as a model for garden gnomes?
I'll be waiting for DNI (Direct Neural Implant) version so that I can feel the beam sabre cut my arm off as I watch.
The dog, the dog, he's at it again!
How do you make a 2D movie 3D anyway? Is it just like colouring in a B&W movie? ie fake!!!
We know what it is going on here. Lucas is obsessed with the latest movie tech as he has always been and he can't stand the thought of his movies looking technically old school. That's why he has the compulsion to update them. He's certainly not going to let James Cameron do him over. Just take a look at the clip Old Man Plinkett found of Lucas lamenting the success of Titanic.
But if he really wants to make his movie look up to date, his best bet would be to replace the all the CGI from Episode II. That stuff looked like a Nintendo 64 game. Seriously, it was on par with Lylat Wars.
That's a good point.
But he won't live forever and can't endlessly update, so eventually all films WILL be old school. Sure, Capt. Kirk and Mr. Scott are going to have a laugh at how "things" were visualized back in the old days.
I've not even seen the updates Lucas did in the late 90s, digitally inserting extra stuff. I do like the original trilogy as it was, period. Old school has its own charms. Sure, the space war scenes were a bit sparse and slow; but then Lucas seriously overdid it in the opening scenes of Sith. Good grief, with everything flying around at breakneck speed from all directions even Master Yoda would have crashed his starfighter sooner rather than later.![]()
You shouldn't mess with perfection! And that's what Lucas is doing. A pity.
Don't let your reality checks bounce. ~MeI'll tell you in the next life, when we are both cats.
I have the newer version at home, but I'm not sure what is new. I'm gonna have to look that up.
The one thing that I do know is one of the more noticable (or notable?) CGI mistakes was removed. One of the fighters went behind, but appeard in front of another. I actually remember seeing it on the big screen. I must have been looking at the right part of the screen at the right time.
ETA: I actually like the occasional mistakes as long as it so subtle that it doesn't detract from the overall visualization. It's interesting to look for in re-watching something. I found some lists of StarTrek bloopers that I printed out so I can find them when re-watching the shows.
To me, it's rewriting history (which seems to be happening a lot with PC)
As Old Man Plinkett exposed, Rick McCallum was very pleased with the complexity of the actions.
"It's so dense, every frame has so much going on."
He stated that to try to impress us as to the scope of the production while failing to see that he was pointing out WHY IT SUCKS!!!! The action scenes, particularly with the battle in Geonosis at the end of Episode II were horrible. They were a complete mess. Adding on that rubbish into them just made them incomprehensible. And the CGI was not nearly as good as they thought it was. As I said, it was on par with Lylat Wars.
So they extrapolate a second eye from that?
Yep;
All done with some sophisticated image processing algorithms.
Once these 3d extrapolations are computed, then it's a matter of processing it into a second camera angle and merging them into the 3d technology.
3D? I think they already have a 3rd dimension, the sense of smell, because they're starting to stink like a dead white elephant left out in the tropical sun too long.
Et tu BAUT? Quantum mutatus ab illo.
