    Not the populist view...

I have a good understanding g gnome... Some, it would appear do not. It is they whom need help.

I have recently had reason to read the latest offering from Stephen Hawking. I wish to inform,

Make clear, that as Doctor Hawking is gravely ill his words should be reported clearly...

When talking of his medical condition and status the news room implied 'HE' had said there's no god.

That is not what he said. A better understanding would be...

'There is no need for a god to have created this universe.' The rules of the universe were built in.

By the very rules of itself does it bloom. . . .

I just want this great mans words understood fairly.

You might aid that understanding by some better punctuation and grammar.

What do you mean by saying you have a "good understanding g gnome?" I also don't understand why Dr. Hawking being gravely ill should make any difference as to whether his words should be reported clearly. "Clearly" they should in any case, yes?

My understanding of Dr. Hawking's view toward God leads me to interpret "there is no need for a god to have created this universe," to mean one can effectively ignore the notion of a god. This isn't much different than saying there isn't one, in my opinion. But I've been know to assume too much.

You have clearly understood me... ok, so delete the g gnome and just use gene... you still understood me...

and yes we should all want to be correctly quoted and that I was a little annoyed with the local news broadcaster...

But also understand. That what I see as important. May not be.

Not wanting to 'KILL' anyone but, Pleased to have entertained you...

and now, without any disrespect intended a silly observation... Humanity is not so smart ( starting with me as a example.)

Sir, Doctor, Professor and Mathematician extraordinary... may be gravely ILL... but can I down load his sum total of knowledge ?

NO. Which is a shame. This would be a handy ability...

Having just read his latest work I might have some insight into his thought processes... and they work better than mine.

Understanding needs to work in all directions.

I am totally in understanding of your post Astromark, you are indeed correct about Stephens comments
on the creation of the universe. He never said there was god, just a god was not necessary.
I am pleased you seek to put the record straight.

Hi CJ, with respect, Astromark was just trying to correct a misinterpretation of Hawkings considered opinion concerning
the creation of the universe. Hawking was not saying there is no god, just saying that at the point of creation the laws
of physics were in place to create what we see now.
CJ, just run this past you, in past histories of many cultures there have been many gods, monotheism is a recent
concept. I would, with all due respect, opine that the gods came after the creation.

Thanks, nokton. I "got" what Mark was saying just fine, after a fashion. My point was that his unorthodox use of grammar and spelling makes it difficult to understand what he is saying at times. Thanks for your opinion on theism; it doesn't change, for me, the point I was making.

You are lucky. My gnome is not understanding at all -- very impatient nd self-centered. I think I'll eat him in a pie.
