The BBC and the Richard Feynman Lectures?

The Richard Feynman Lectures are one of the worlds greatest set of maths and physic lectures ever filmed, by the BBC.

Understood, appreciated and a source of knowledge to everyone, from a young child to an old professor, there is something for everyone.

Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates believes that if he had been able to watch physicist Richard Feynman lecture on physics in 1964 his life might have played out differently…

    So it begs the question,

Why has the BBC buried the Richard Feynman Lectures for the past 40 years.

Why are the Richard Feynman Lectures not on the UK Maths and Physics school syllabus?

I would have preferred 40 years of Richard Feynman Lectures instead of 40 years of Monthy Python on the BBC, wouldn't you.

Everyone should be allowed to watch the Richard Feynman Lectures. They are timeless.

Nature and physics have not changed, in the past 40 years.

No mathematician or physics can possibly disagree. (Or it could be just me, it wouldn't be the first time)

But at least we are bring more attention to the Richard Feynman Lectures.

    Make some noise.

    Light in, Light out.

    Kind Regards,

I was 3 years old when I watched the first monty python on the BBC, late one Sunday evening, replacing Sunday worship.

I have spent the last 30 years studying Maths and Physics in England and I watched the Richard Feynman Lectures, for the first time last week, and it wasn't on the BBC or on any syllabus.

I commend everyone for putting it on the internet.

    My question is;

Why have I not seen it on the BBC for the past 40 years?

How can someone look up someone or something, on the internet, if they have never heard of them or been told about them?

Everyone one has heard of Monty Python, thanks to the BBC.

How many people have heard of Richard Feynman on the BBC.

    Make some noise.

    Light in, Light out.

    Kind Regards

Sorry but I have to ask since your posted this in the CT section what exactly is the conspiracy here? It's not like the BBC has been advocating creationism or other such nonsense, so where's the conspiracy in not rebroadcasting one series of lectures?

Indeed. The BBC have had some truly inspirational presenters of their Christmas science lectures. But as far as I know these also rarely if ever get rebroadcast.

It's not as if Feynman is unknown. I only recently found his lectures on the Internet (thanks to someone here). But I have had the book for decades.

    - I take it you have never watched Monty Python.

The BBC replaced Sunday worship with the Monty Pythons meaning of life.......

And now for something completely different.

    Let me make that official.

Terry Giblin, you posted this in the CT section, so you must think the BBC is conspiring to hide something abuot Richard Feynman. It it now your obligation to show evidence of this and to answer all questions put to you, as per our rules about the CT forum. If you fail to do this, this thread will be closed and we will consider infractions.

I've seen them all, and I still haven't a clue where you're going with this. And Meaning of Life was a movie they made many years later, which to the best of my knowledge has only ever been broadcast on commercial television in the UK, and I have to say again than I have no idea what Monty Python has to do with the rebroadcast or otherwise of any other program such as the Feynman Lectures. At least they still exist, just ask a Doctor Who fan about the lost/deleted episodes if you've got an hour or two to spare...

First the Feynman lectures were ATM for some reason or other.
Now they are some conspiracy from the BBC (or could it be that you never actually looked for the lectures?)

    No CT, thread closed.
