Could "blue holes" offer clues about the biology of extraterrestrials?

Could "blue holes" offer clues about the biology of extraterrestrials?

In the Bahamas' submerged inland caverns, or "blue holes," a thin layer of fresh water separates oxygen from salt water. This creates a submerged, oxygen-free environment that could resemble underground water pockets on Mars or the seas of Europa.
Everything I need to know I learned through Googling.

The first question that comes to mind is: does the oxygen-free environment imply that there are no oxygen-bearing molecules present within the blue hole? i.e. --silicates of the cavernous walls?

And if the blue hole is a reducing atmosphere---do the astrobiologists who are studying these environs have any clues to what the chemical cycles might be --do they resemble anything like what is purported to be the early Earth?

Although I do not have much offer in terms of new information---this is a very intriguing post.
