Yesterday, I bought an E2000 router. Naturally, as I have a 10-year old son visiting in a month, I enabled the parental controls.
HUGE mistake. It turns out, doing so resulted in web page delays of an additional 20 to 60+ seconds while...
After three hours on the phone with a senior Cisco engineer, we finally nailed down the E2000 router's problems to the parental controls, and everything now works as advertised - once we disabled the parental controls.
So much for the E1000/2000/3000 "parental controls" tab.
Even if you're not in parent control territory, everything, and I do mean everything, will be delayed inexhorably (20 to 60+seconds) until, perhaps, some immature Symmantec server learns how to walk.
Until it does, my advise to you is first, don't enable it, and second, don't use it until well have it matures.
Instead, buy a $15 chair and park it behind your youngin' and use the time to get to know him/her better.
