Lunar Lava Tubes

I read an article somewhere about a futuristic vision of lunar bases and it talked of using lava tubes on the moon for building habitats.

Do we actually know that the rilles found on the moon are indeed collapsed lava tubes?

What methods could we use to find out if there are actual lava tubes on the moon?

Wouldn't there be cave openings visible to the LRO?

Wouldn't there be cave openings visible to the LRO?I'm not a vulcanologist, but I just happen to live on a volcano, and I just happen to have spent some time this afternoon in the lava tube in my garden (honest!). Here, the lava tubes are seldom empty, almost always filled up with cinders and other debris (usually mud, but I suppose not on the moon). The method of detecting them here is by some kind of seismic sounding, if there is suspicion that there is indeed a cavity near the surface where you want to build a house.
