I've mostly been enjoying this show on the cartoon network but there were several whoppers in the latest one that really had me rolling my eyes.

1. A Republic Cruiser is under attack, out of control and "entering the atmosphere" of a planet, yet clear blue sky is shown all around it. (I'm gonna free fall out into nothin' Gonna leave this world for a while...)

2. People standing without pressure suits or oxygen tanks in an open-sided gunship at a higher altitude than the above-mentioned ship. (Sometimes, all I need is the air that I breathe...)

3. The cruiser shows visible signs of heating due to atmospheric friction yet the gunship which has to fly faster to catch up with it does not, nor do the people standing in the open hold feel any ill effects. (Feeling Hot hot hot!)

4. A ship's hyperdrive is accidentally activated while still inside the atmosphere of the planet and the ship speeds off, undamaged. (I've got the pedal to the floor, My life is running faster. I'm out of money, out of hope, It looks like self destruction...)

5. The randomly pointed ship is headed straight for a star and will impact it if control is not regained. (Space is big, really big...)

6. Control is regained a moment before impact and the ship is steered around the star skimming just above the surface. The curve of star is visible as ship passes behind it. (You are my lucky star...)

7. Ship reaches habitable planet seconds after passing star, but after control is (somewhat) regained and dropping out of hyperspace.* (Space is big, really big... pt.2)

This all happens in about the first five minutes and I didn't bother watching the rest. The episode is number 13 and it's called Jedi Crash. I did find a YouTube video of the opening:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsrF9oGoo5Q

It has everything but the passage by the star and the crash landing.

*I guess that might work since the star is apparently only a few miles across.

Edit: Also, sorry for killing all the catgirls.

Star Wars is fantasy and must never, ever be criticized for bad science. I learned that on this forum. :)

Yes, Star Wars is mythology. But myths can inspire real exploration.

One glaring point you forgot to mention was that the ship's cannons would make no noise in space whatsoever.

(ok, that was somewhat smart-alecky of me).

Well from the 1st episode (on TV) there was bad astronomy all over the place. I love Star Wars,it's my favorite saga of all time, but thanks to reading Phil's books and blogs,I can't help but notice such things now. Thank you Phil :). in any case Daffy is right. The main point of star wars is the story not the science. But I do think GL could have put more real science into the saga. Then again he could have put more into the story as well lol. I would love to see Phil s review of the Clone Wars though.

It's okay. We all notice things like that after a while on here. For instance, today I watched Space Buddies and, well, I like to say nice things about the movies I watch, so I will make a list of what they got right:
1) There was a space tourism vehicle looking something like SpaceShipTwo.
2) It was built by a company with the colors blue and white.
3) The company's name started with a "V".
