Hi folks, I haven't been around for a few years, busy with other stuff. But when I saw this article in the Toronto Sun yesterday I just had to point it out:
http://www.torontosun.com/news/torontoandgta/2009/01/06/7929006-sun.html
I'll let you find the mistake, it's pretty obvious.

it's funny--the statements are both true, but putting them together like that implies a falsehood!

I'm not sure I see it. I think I see it, but didn't mention it yesterday when the article was mentioned before (http://www.bautforum.com/astronomy/83216-toronto-transit-ads.html).
Is it related to the number of adds?

I assume that you are referring to this:
Another ad illustrates how there's more daylight as the winter passes. "It's getting longer because the earth's spin is slowing down due to the tides of the moon," Jayawardhana explained.
Or were you talking about the comment that the cosmos was "orderly and harmonious". Having once written a paper about the feeding mechanisms of supermassive black holes, I had a chuckle about that one! ;)
As tdvance says, it's two truths that make a falsehood.
... Another ad illustrates how there's more daylight as the winter passes.
"It's getting longer because the earth's spin is slowing down due to the tides of the moon," Jayawardhana explained.
Both are true, but the ad they reference and the explanation they give are about days getting longer, not daylight getting longer.

great idea to put these ads up to promote star science.
should be really cool to watch people read these boards who don't know or never had an interest in it.
every town ,city and state or province should do something like this for various type's of science
way 2 go U.of T.

Yeah, I knew both were correct, but slam 'em together and you've got one great big epic FAIL! Hard to tell whether it was the guy being quoted who screwed up or the reporter, but I have my suspicions...

yeah, it's related to non-ascii-32 whitespace.

Obviously, I'm wrong, but I've noticed I also have a typo in the whitespace.

Yeah, I saw that too. That apostrophe in _________ just doesn't belong.

We should get those here in NYC. Not that I think people here are dumb, I just would enjoy seeing them.
