Must be natures way of counteracting us geeks odds of getting laid.

Men of higher intelligence tend to produce better quality sperm, UK research suggests.

A team from the Institute of Psychiatry analysed data from former US soldiers who served during the Vietnam war era.

They found that those who performed better on intelligence tests tended to have more - and more mobile - sperm.

Vietnam war era? Lots of US urban areas had very high levels of lead pollution back then. Lead is linked to both low IQ and male infertillity.

True, but most of your recruits come from disproportionately rural areas, the deep South, Texas, Oklahoma, the West, where lead levels were lower in the sixties/seventies. Our town posts the war deaths on the telephone poles for Memorial Day, and as I drive trafficky by, I note a considerable disparity in ratio of population by state vs number of casualties, and I'd venture to say from friends who served years ago, it was similar then. I don't think I can say more about this issue, as it could heat up, but I think the lead thing is relevant. pete

Could it be that more inteligent people could tend to pay more attention to their health and diet, and other factors that don't just "produce better swimmers" but promote overall better health in general?

I'm obviously not saying if you're stupid you can't take care of yourself, or that you can't be inteligent and unhealthy. But I think enough of a connection exists that it could lead to the supposed results mentioned.

...or that you can't be inteligent and unhealthy.

Naw, I was resting my drink on the natural shelve that my stomach creates when I'm in a sitting or reclining position. ;)
