Hi all,
New member, love cars, thought I would share this one:

As if a Lamborghini Gallardo needs more horsepower.. Of course it does! Check out this 1,000 horsepower twin turbo Gallardo!

That is an awesome car isn't it?

I'm on my second one, since the first one I bought was red. Red on a Gallardo looks terrible I soon discovered...
So I gave that one to a friend of mine and bought a lightning blue one with custom paint.

It looks great next to the 69 500 GT Shelby!

As my garage only holds 6 cars currently, I'll be selling the Ferrari. The windshield wipers cost too much anyway.

Nice, but IMO the most beautiful car Lambo ever build was the Muira IMO.

I'm one of those funny people who have never seen a Gallardo in real life, though I have seen a Murcielago, twice, simply on the street, in my town. A silver one and a black one. Statistics dictate that chances are quite high I will have seen a gallardo by the time I've seen my third Murcielago. :)

My brother has seen the police Gallardo in Italy. Literally a unique car.

That's pretty cool! I certainly wouldn't mind having one, although it would be more for show, than use, as an afternoon's drive would cost $100...

As far as raw horsepower goes, though, top fueler dragsters these days are cranking out more than 8,000 hp, but the engines have a lifespace of between 1 and 3 races.

Meanwhile, I've flown planes that put out more than 25,000 hp, and the engines were good to go for more than a thousand hours. Yes, as they were turboprops, technically, they were turbo-charged, as well, as that's how the engine works, even if they're not pistons...

The nice thing is that if you can afford one of those, you can probably afford to buy the carbon offset credits too... :P

if i had one, i wouldn't bother with any silly carbon offsets- but i'd get one of those "my carbon footprint is bigger than yours" bumper stickers and place it in a place where everyone is sure to see it..

In case of the Vertigo, you can optionally have a large number of parts in carbon instead of metal, to save weight. Choosing that option almost doubles the price tag of the car...

them foreign cars just don't do it for me.. if i had to take any of the new "super cars" out there, mine would be the new 600+ hp supercharged ZR1 Corvette that has room for not only a passenger, but alsp some usable trunk space- and they get 20 something mpg when you aren't going 200mph.
plus, you know, they are American cars designed by Americans..

i was on another site in which many people were claiming that american cars suck because of, say, Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. I mentioned the Corvette and they made fun of it. Then i linked to a page describing how the Corvette holds the record at the Green Hell and no one ever posted in that thread again.

That one I posted (Saleen S7 Twin Turbo) is a completely american car. It'll wipe the floor with any corvette too. 2900lbs, 750HP, and incredible aerodynamics.

I never understood the allure of a Corvette. A mediocre performer, but a truly remarkable marketing success.

Every car that was designed to challenge it based on performance beat it hands down. But none could match it's well entrenched image as America's roadster. I think it was a huge advantage to be the first of it's kind (here in the US).

I can't speak to anything past the late 80's, but that was my take back when I was more into performance cars and followed them somewhat closely. The Corvette was the one that got beat by cars that cost half as much. (Cyclone Spoiler, AMX, Hemi-Cuda). The Vette strikes me as an "image" car.

Even today though; why would you buy a Corvette when you could get something like a Superformance Mark III (from South Africa). For a little more than half the price of the Vette you get an extremely well engineered replica (built from the ground up - not a kit car) of a truly classic roadster, including a Rousch Racing 512 ci engine. You CAN have it all; modern performance and a classic design.

I wouldn't mind one. But they are rather large and can be a pain to work on at times without a Big Jack.

Like I said, that was about the time I stopped paying much attention.

And yet still, if those numbers are true, I'd skip the Vette. For about the same price, I'd take the Superformance Mark III; only because then I'd have the modern performance AND the classic design. But then I'm a sucker for classic looks - so just a personal preference.

"Fixed" is relative. Yes I have seen them and am unimpressed. They still suffer some of what I consider to be "80's-era" supercar troubles. Not the least of which is heat and everyday tractability. They are an anvil where the Vette is a scimitar. And that is saying something as I was not much a fan of Vettes until they figured out what market they were aiming for. In the Vette's case they aimed at Ferrari and surpassed their performance. The Viper aimed at Nascar and pretty much hit it dead on.

Corvettes were much improved after they moved production to the old Chrysler air conditioning plant in Bowling Green, KY. Chevy engineers had to drive to and from Detroit over real roads; it didn't take them long to realize what they had been told for years was true. They handled like crap. I'm still not a fan, I just like to see the USA build cars that compete with the best.
