Apparently Phill has "big news" which is going to be released soon. The last time he did it was that he was moving to Colorado to become a full time writer. What could it be this time? If I've learned one thing from Fox News, its that lack of news does not mean you can't report. Instead of putting out facts we can manufacture them by speculating and having talking heads talk about what might be or just throw out guesses. Then we can blur the line between what is "known" and what is "possible" and after that we can start with the assumptions.

Some of my guesses:

Phil said the news was "big" so it's possible that it has something to do with his nose, which PZ Meyers pointed out was big and suggested was a genetic defect.

Phil may be planning to take over the government of the US, or alternately he may be planning on starting by taking over the government of a smaller nation like Chad, Fiji, Belgium or the Vatican City Sovernity.

Phill is going to become an adult entertainer with the stage name "Badass Tronomer"

He may be announcing he is a cyborg

He may be switching sides and going to work with Richard Hoaglund at the World Institute of Stupid.

He will announce that he can detach his lower jaw in oder to consume prey that is larger than the diameter of his head. (several types of snakes can do this)

You're a couple of hours late. The big news is reported here: New! Bad Astronomy Blog in Discover Magazine (http://www.bautforum.com/bad-astronomy-stories/76147-new-bad-astronomy-blog-discover-magazine.html)

Update your links to the BA Blog: Discover Magazine: Bad Astronomy Blog (http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badastronomy/)

True, it could. Sure, you can make light of the news. Have some fun. Go for it.

I just didn't want the importance of the actual hard news about the BA Blog (http://www.bautforum.com/bad-astronomy-stories/76147-new-bad-astronomy-blog-discover-magazine.html) to get lost in the idle chatter. A lot of people follow the BA Blog, and as it stands right now, they may be looking at the old defunct BA Blog and not the bright shiny new BA Blog at Discover Magazine (http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badastronomy/). They look a lot alike right now, but the new one is the active one.
