Sorry but the first thought that popped into my head was their 'apocolyptic future space movie' section in the beginning of 'Strange Brew':

BSC?

This is not the first time. Here's CSA's astronaut history page (http://www.space.gc.ca/asc/eng/astronauts/history_astro.asp).
It looks like they don't have a continuous search for candidates. But; that makes sense to me when you consider the training that is necessary. It's (generally) easier and cheaper to train in groups.

Think this everytime I see the post, so might as well say it: I hope Hayden Christensen signs up. He could be Hollywood actor AND astronaut. :D {{whistle!}} Go baby! Rrrrrrrr! :D

Give us all the eye candy you can, Hayden honey...

yeah, eh, the women have to spend all their time doing Canadian woman stuff like washing the men's Hockey and Curling uniforms, and getting the kids to hockey and curling practice.

I am on the floor, wow...(not sexist, just laughing!)

/Runs off before the women can beat him with hockey sticks and curling brooms...

No, I should seriously move to Canada. Or can I be an american and qualify?

you can always pretend to be from Canada next time you are in Europe or the Middle East.. it might make your trip more pleasurable.

I hope not, the best Canadian astronaut by far is Julie Payette, incredibly talented woman, really!

BSC?

I should have said "B.Sc." I'm in a B.A.H program on course for an L.L.B.

Also, since we rely on NASA launches to get our guys and gals up there, there's a bit of negotiating going on. The Canadarm system was our ticket to get people on the shuttles, so we trained a group once we had delivered those. The Canadarm 2 system is our next ticket, so it's time to train a new group.
