View Full Version : The Earth is Dropping Out of Orbit!

See the latest at Signs of the Times. A ZetaFaithful has made some measures with his scope and determined the Earth is dropping down (South) out of orbit. The cover-up of all those astronmers is working great. See http://www.zetatalk.com/index/earthdip.htm for the details. Obviously not true, but I'd appreciate comments from the astro experts on what this guy is doing wrong.

pretty hard to tell from the information provided, but...
Taking a guess that he's using a commercial telescope with goto (say, a Meade or Celestron SCT or similar) you can't really make any measurements that would tell you that the "Earth is moving south" or "the Earth's rotation is slowing".
Those goto systems are intended to track relative position - that is to say, having set up the scope by aligning on a few known stars, and knowing the elapsed time since that alignment, it can point itself at any other star based on its position relative to the reference points and correcting for rotation.
Tracking systems like that can't tell you anything useful about absolute position.
Net verdict : not much to go on, but it sounds like he didn't align his telescope very well.

I agree with Krill 100%. Pretty durn easy to be off by 2.32 minutes of a degree.
Star Crosses Scope at 25 degrees 00 minutes at this time. Computer says it supposed to be 25 degrees 2.32 minutes at this time That's like the people who say they always see the moon in a certain position and reciently it's been in a diffrent position  That's almost like saying my speedometer says I'm going 55mph but the police that pulled me over says I was going 60mph so I know that PX is slowing down the earth by 5mph, that's the only logical explination! :^o  :P 8)

Try this out the next time with the cops and I guess you'll have a story to tell here... ;-)

cover your dash in soda cans...it plays with their radar....

oh that works for PX to...

no, no, no. Tinfoil is out. What you need is velostat. I know, I've posted this link before, but it is, I think you'll agree, rather exceptional...

Yes I wear my velostat underware every day! I dont mind being abducted, it's those durn probes I dont like! :P

As any woman will tell you, underwear protects the main thinking center for most men anyway.

Oh brother! He claims the Moon and Mars are rising too far north based on his dubious readings from his telescope and a compass. Do these people have no sense of their own limitation and the limitations of their equipment? Mars rose right on time last night and was in its predicted position. My astronomy software says that the Moon should be at Azimuth 250.53 degrees at an altitude of 44.11 degrees.
(Please wait while I walk outside to verify.......)
I'm back. Damn if the Moon wasn't right where it's supposed to be. He claims that the Earth is being pulled "south" in its orbit. Doesn't he realize that if there is an object big enough to move the Earth that it's likely it's going to the pull the Moon along for the ride as well.
A little knowledge and a lot of hubris is a dangerous thing.

I knew I messed up somewhere, I covered my dash with beer cans and they went ballistic :o
On a more serious note, I think someone needs to "tell" their automatic telescope where it is located in order for it to point in the right direction. If it seems to be off by the same amount each time, he is probably not entering the correct information in the first place, that would explain why it doesn't point at the proper place. Its a well known fact that when the earth dips south, (Dang...MORE tourists!! ) this tends to increase the output of the (looks away to
burst into laughter) of the Woowoo generators by >=22.981%. :o

Using TheSky Version 4 Level II and the date and time info of this post, I determined that this person in near the same Lat. as Minneapolis, Minn.
The moon is way too high for an altitude reading from my scope when it reaches the meridian point.
The Moon is between alt. 57degrees and 58 degrees at the meridian.
A compass showed me evidence enough that it is rising too far North then where it is supposed to rise.
Which would be true if this person assumed that the Moon, along with the rest of the planets and the Sun, rises in the East. The ecliptic has things rising in the East_North_East.
Just My Two Sense.

Sometimes, if you are in a really heavy car, and you go downhill, you go really, really fast!
It must be PX!
