I think the children there are already waiting for the christmas holidays, because here too the children are eagarly waiting for the 10days holidays for the christmas, when I was in my school, I have enjoyed 15days for this festival. Today I am looking that this festival is very big like our diwali festival. But you will be surprise when I received 5 books from one of my best friend in this course of time, He said to Merry Christmas Sunil, I replied him Happy Christmas festival.

In my opinion any big festival brings you and your family a thoughtful joy and plenty of desires for a nice living our life. So this is much more impressing me.

Hence You too are eagarly waiting for that event of this important and big festival thereon, so I am wishing my very best wishes for you and also for your pre-preparations of the festival.

Sunil:)

well i would first like to say merry christmas to you too! it is only five weeks away and yes the children here are eager for it to come sooner ,many parents dread it because it is costing them lots of money to try to make sure that they have things for their children,i prefer being with my family having a good meal and having a good laugh. i usually drive a father christmas around on christmas eve in a wagon that has been adapted to look like a sleigh to see the faces light up of the children in many deprived areas makes me happy, it is done by our local town council and we dont get paid for this except for a box of chocolates to say thank you . the chocolates go down a treat mind!

Looking forward to the day after, December 26th, when the damned xmas commercials finally cease with their Norman Rockwell and conspicuous consumption crap and the music piped in to the local stores gets back to the usual elevator stuff.

Lol Mak.

Don't you like Thankgiving Celebration?

:think:Of course I do!

It's a great day to watch Detroit get beaten by anyone. And then root for whoever is playing against the hated Cowboys!

The meal is the usual:

A real Banquet.

Plus I get free bowling!

But the main dish is creamed onions (http://www.realgoodfood.com/creamed_onions.html). Best with Massachusetts or Vermont sharp cheddar.

interesting replies by you people. Everyone has given a very descent remarks here, like "opposition of mars", beach visiting, celebration of happy birthday, wow. Is it a season there of "snow fall" during this session! since I am unknown the seasons across there. :)
I am first time hearing the dish "creme onions", I will try it in my home to cook, but how to cook it? that's the main question, is the recepy book is included in the dish, Maksutov !

It is certainly the season of "snow fall" in Ohio, USA. We have already had a little bit. But the weather is very changeable this time of year: tomorrow it is supposed to be close to 20C, but by Thursday it will be about 5C and chance of snow. December 24, it might be -10C and a blizzard, or 25C and sunny (I've seen both).

I have tried to be good. I am sorry for getting mad at that kid who interrupted my presentation about the Roman Empire. Do I still get Cosmos on DVD?

My wife & I will spend a quiet evening at home.

Well, she will,I'll be drinking & dreading Christmas Day with her family in town. Not that they're crazy or weird, just the opposite, very nice people, but incredibly boring. The food is bland, they don't drink (not that I want some wild drunken party, but some eggnog with Captain Morgan or a nice single malt goes down nice after dinner) & they play the 101 Strings versions of Christmas music (anybody over 40'll know what I'm talking about).

Couple of years ago the Mrs decided we'd stay in town & go to the movies between breakfast & dinner rather than drive the 30 miles home.2 years in a row.
Both times, while at the movies (neither of which I really liked),somebody hit my truck. It's a LWB,extended cab 4WD Dodge, kinda hard not to see & I parked away from the other cars since it's so hard to manuver in a cramped parking lot.

Told her we're going to spend next Christmas with my family in Texas,at least I can have a drink & Mom makes paella instead of turkey :D

Do they tune into PBS for reruns of the xmas episodes of Lawrence Welk?

Good! And maybe you can teach some of the folks in Tehas how to spell chile.
1) It's Tejas!
2) We do know to spell chile, and how to make chili!

1) It's Tejas!I was spelling it phonetically.

2) We do know to spell chile, and how to make chili!Frantic Freddie (http://www.bautforum.com/off-topic-babbling/52029-you-say-tomato-i-say-3.html#post906211), Palomar (http://www.bautforum.com/off-topic-babbling/65911-dont-eat-breakfast-if-you-trying-lose-weight-2.html#post1090148), Gillianren (http://www.bautforum.com/off-topic-babbling/52029-you-say-tomato-i-say-3.html#post906214), and I would disagree. Although I have occasionally seen "chili" as an alternative spelling for the stew made with chiles. But the best chiles (i.e., the stew) I've tasted were made by people who called the dish "chile".
