I've been trying to get on to BAUT, on and off, for the last hour, and kept getting network error messages (like it couldn't find the website). Was there a problem?

Same for me, but it started a couple hours ago

Possibly server maintenance.
Its night/early morning over there isn't it?

It couldn't even find "bautforum.com" for me for a while there. Seems to be okay now.

And here we see one of BAUT's mods getting the server warmed up for another busy day of fighting HBers and CTers.

I have the same experience.
This is the first time for me that Baut has been down for a couple of hours.
First I thought it's our server here in the office , but figured out that it's not .

What was the reason ?

Is Fraser doing some preventive maintenance ?

ISP Sanity Check.

Fraser wanted to see how long how sanity lasts without BAUT:p

Not long, thank goodness for word-pad. I had to get all conspiratorial and then wait (well I pester another forum for a short while too).

Is it alright to just stay a bit eccentric perhaps but keep BAUT up and running?

I find it worthwhile to go to a different word processor and write posts, then copy them into BAUT. Having a lengthy post trashed is very irritating, and it happens all too often.

Speaking of that .
I made a post , a lengthy one in one of the threads here before Baut went down.

It took so long for my post to get in , so I wondered and refreshed again , and that was the time that my carefully thought post was gone and Baut went down.

A reasonable request. Give me your fax number and I'll send it to you. Would you prefer coins or bills?

So you're the one!

Then, you fax Nicolas his refund.

UT was down as well, I tried all three and got the same error message for them all, fortunately I had Apollohoax.net to tide me over until BAUT was back up.

Yeah, UT was offline too. I think there was some maintenance going on with the ISP. If BAUT is down, check and see if UT is down too since they're on different servers. If both are down, assume the overall ISP's connection is down.

Please do keep up with recent evolutions in orbital monetary systems. "Quids" is the new currency!

(and faxes are soooooo early 90's. Beware or you'll slip into the muddy waters of the telex and telegram.)

Same.

But I noticed that the random (about 1 in 5) posting hangs are back.

It's really a shame to spend all that time writing and the post never takes.

This sounds really strange. Can you try a different browser and see if you're still having the same problem?

The forum seems very slow today. Even with my work high-speed connnection, I've had it time-out multiple times. It will be good for a few minutes, then real slow again. I have not this problem with other websites; it seems specific to BAUT.

I've also noticed slow-downs (hangs) this morning. For the most part the forum response is great then it just hangs up for a minute and the connection fails.

If you're talking about the site hanging when you click <Post Quick Reply>, you can salvage the situation by clicking <Go Advanced> instead, that will normally bring your newly entered text to the next page where you can submit the reply.

I'll do even better: send me your credit card number and expiration date, and I'll see that it's credited directly to that account. ;)
