This a major concern so I am warning you about it before it is to late!:( Let me explain, acid rain occurs when smog gets in the air and mixes with water vapor. Sulfur(the main thing in acid rain) Makes the vapor acidic to a pH level of 3.8! That is scary! As you have noticed(if you've seen my other threads)I am an eviromentalist. My specialty is to deal with bad things in the enviroment. I really don't know that much about acid rain, will you help me? So what do you have to say about this?

This might explain a bit about our new poster (note the age):
Hello my name is James Bryce and I am a young astronemer. I was born on Nov. 6, 1994 and I am 12yrs old. I would like to post stuff on the web so I decided it would be best if I blogged about what I like. I hope you like what I post!

Which goes to prove that anyone 12 years old is incapable of knowing very much about acid rain

I don't know about that, but it does explain his rather enthusiastic posting style. ;)

You'll be happy to learn that the problem of acid rain is one of the success stories of the environmental movement, and it's a problem which was successfully tackled during the 1980's before you were born. Well, successfully tackled in the USA and Europe, at least. But the techniques used in the USA and Europe prove it can be done, and done without terribly impacting industry.

He said he is a specialist on dealing with bad things about the environment. His knowledge seems very good (at least for his age) about the effects acid rain has and how it is caused. Why don't you guide him about the things he needs to know instead of ridiculing him with saying "i know you can't respond"?
A conspiracy theorist gets a better reception here.

I already commented on the disposition of your post.

And is there something wrong with that? Jybryce isn't spamming, he is raising several environmental issue which are something to consider.

The world is more that just US and Europe, as you may know. And even there its not totally eliminated.

Its sad to see all of you members accusing him of lying, instead of guiding the new poster to areas he needs to know more about. For me, even the thought of a 12 year old caring about environmental issues is applaudable.

Why?
Because the posts come across as trolls, fairly benign trolls from what I've seen and done, and the use of "LAWLZ IMMA TWELF YERS OLE" is just an excuse to keep on doing the same thing and escalating the nature of their posts.

Jbryce is indeed very enthusiastic, but considering his age, I'm hoping we can guide him in the right direction. We should embrace members of any age, and as mostly adults, realize we can help steer them in the right direction, if possible* ;)
*note that I know this is not always possible - many DO just troll. But someone enthusiastic about the science, IMO (not in mod-mode here), should be given the benefit of the doubt and helped, if possible ;) Yes, the template style posts on every environmental issue are difficult, and his assumption that we are unaware of these issues is difficult. These are possibly resolvable issues, with community guidance, IF JBryce is willing to learn as he goes. If not....

Nice one!
Between one thousand one and four
The Norsemen reached this hallowed shore
Five hundred years would pass before
Ever sailed that Spanish bore.

Hence my response, since you seemed to misunderstand the reason for my post.

Uhm, I think you missed the smiley I included with my post. I was pointing out that the likely reason for his posting style was his age. Lighten up. Yeesh.

well he can't respond because he was banned.
and he claimed to be an specialist in environmental things, so how does he not know about acid rain?

I know that something called quantum entanglement exists but I wouldn't be able to write a five hundred page dissertation on the subject let alone a fluff piece regarding quantum physics for, shudder, People Magazine. Just because I know something exists doesn't make me a specialist.
Plus I don't know if you are one of the few, the proud, the spammed who received his "weekly newsletter" via private message that pretty much mirrors what he posted here without adding any signal to the noise.

I doubt they'd be interested, anyway. But then, I'm a PopSci girl, not a People girl, which my mom secretly regrets.

I do hope that causes him(?) to think more about posting when the temporary ban expires

At that age, there is a tendancy to not know how much you don't know, which means you think you know a great deal more than what you do.
(yep; go ahead and read that again...)
Anyway, I don't think that the usage of "I am a young astronomer" and "I am an environmentalist" is trying to come across as trying to be authoritative or knowledgeable.
It's because either he doesn't understand how athoritative that comes across, or is to lazy to chose the words correctly or carefully. It seems to be an indication of interest.

I've written for People magazine. Had to produce a medical certificate saying I was one first however.
