"The theory is to be outlined at the American Geophysical Union meeting in Acapulco, Mexico. A group of US scientists that include West will report that they have found a layer of microscopic diamonds at 26 different sites in Europe, Canada and America. These are the remains of a giant carbon-rich comet that crashed in pieces on our planet 12,900 years ago, they say. The huge pressures and heat triggered by the fragments crashing to Earth turned the comet's carbon into diamond dust."

Wonder if that could make this global flood that we keep hearing about?

Before this thread is locked under the ToSeek rule of duplicate threads, I would like to register an issue with the term caveman.

We still have people today who live in caves, so cavemen can be said to still exist.

This point holds even with the evolution scenario. The term caveman is woolly and imprecise.

Answer: Prehistoric ancestors did not become extinct because of a comet.

I was hoping that this thread would be instructive in "extincting" the Geico caveman TV show before it premieres this fall.

Dream on - it'll run its course for 5 yrs even if no one watches it. It's a giant geico commercial - sorta like the chiquita banana (angela landsbury) show - murder she wrote?

According to the discovery channel programming - mankind almost got terminated around 70k bc - possibly due to the supervolcano. Seems like that program was sandwiched between crop circles and alien abductions so..... Guess it's possible the neanderthals bit the dust at least partially due to that asteroid crash but I thought they were long gone by then.

rrrr...tooseek'd again...

Well at least you didn't delete my post like on GLP...

My response was...

Maybe thats where the global flood came from?
Or perhaps that it hit smack on Atlantis and disintegrated it?
Possibly killed all the civilization that created the sphynx and left it all buried in the sand for eternity?

:)

I dont see how these post's are related?

Thought they found evidence of an impact, not maybe something from somewhere out there...

When 500 cubic miles of water break loose from an ice dam and ravage the land, what you're left with is the southeastern Washington geology - scab lands, boulder fields, dry cataracts, gravel bars and 'erratics'

Reporters are invited to see the début of a new map that depicts how our local geology was significantly altered 10,000 to 15,000 years ago by the great ice age floods that raced through central Washington. This large colourful map (18"x32"), which will be made available free to the public features two self-guided road tours that identify many geologic highlights such as 'The Badlands' of Benton City.
