Nereid,

How can I use my fonts located at the top of my message "screen"?

When I use the insert image, quote, bold, or underline it doesn't work right.

For instance this was suppose to be bold.

How do you use the insert image? Maybe I could use it to get my equations to this post.

please help!

Split from an ATM thread.

(What does Nereid know about fonts, etc? Very little.)

Hi rebel,
There is some help for stuff like that in this thread (http://www.bautforum.com/showthread.php?t=36528).

and this FAQ page (http://www.bautforum.com/misc.php?do=bbcode) tells how to use vbcode for bolding and images.

On my computer, at least, there is a problem with the drop-down
selection boxes for Fonts and Sizes. A chunk of JavaScript shows
up inside each of them. I just now discovered, however, that the
boxes still work. Below the JavaScript, at the bottom of the box,
are the selections that are supposed to be there, and the one I
just tested (Size 4) works. In order to see that
selection, though, I had to scroll the main window down after
dropping the box down. The JavaScript fragment in the Fonts
box is shorter, so that the beginning of the list of fonts shows up
onscreen without having to scroll the main window. (The list of
fonts is longer than the list of sizes, though, so it is necessary to
scroll down the box to see the full list, which is normal behavior.)

If other people do not have this problem, it could be unique to my
computer because of fiddling I've done to the operating system.
Or it might be because I'm using an old browser (IE 5.0). Or the
problem might be fixed with the next forum software update.

Fonts, sizes etc work fine for me in both FF & IE. It's probably the browser settings causing problems, but not sure what.

Nereid or HenrikOlsen,

Does this forum have a server that I can send my equations and notes to, so they can download them to the other thread? If not, I'm afraid a lot is lost in translation.

You can attach them to individual posts, if you wish.

Serenitude,

I've been trying to send some equations to another thread. The problem that I seem to be having is that my equations are in photo and the size (kbytes) of the information is to big for the post. I don't even get the opion to paste.

For size, you can try shrinking the images, and making sure they are jpegs, and not bmp files. There should be an "insert image" button that looks like a postcard of a mountain just above where you type your post, in between a button that looks like a globe and one the looks like a bubble text.

That's with Standard Editor or Enhanced Interface selected in the User Control Panel Options (http://www.bautforum.com/profile.php?do=editoptions). If Basic Editor is selected, there will be no such control.

In any case, img tags around the URL should work:

A remedy would be to convert the jpgs to 2-bit [black and white]. That should reduce file size.

Argos,

Yes, I've done this, but the result was a very poor quality document.

Bearly legable writing.

Rebel,

If the problem is that your filesize is too large, then obviously you are
making the image way bigger than it needs to be. Also, GIF or PNG
are more appropriate formats for math equations. Here's an example:

5332

Try making the characters much smaller in the original, so that the
image doesn't need to be so big, and doesn't need to be reduced.

01101001,

When I try to insert image, I need a http:// for my URL. How do I know what to put in the address box?

Yes, the IMG-tag method requires a URL. The image must have a location on the Web.

If it is an image only now on your own personal computer, then you can put a copy of the image on an image-hosting service (Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_hosting_service)) such as flickr.com (http://www.flickr.com/) or imageshack.us (http://imageshack.us/) or other. Many are free.
