Here's a nice quote from my good friend Freidrich Nietzsche: "In some remote corner of the universe, poured out and glittering in innumerable solar systems, there once was a star on which clever animals invented knowledge. I read somewhere (maybe it was in the best humor on usenet forum) near the time of the Y2K software problem, that an indicator of a really dumb civilization would be if the period of rotation of the planet was a precise, even multiple of the period of revolution about its star.
