When a contestant announces, "...I'd like to buy a vowel", how much do vowels cost?

Heh, I've wondered that for years...of course I could pay attention to how much money someone has before buying the vowel, but that requires effort. :p

Exactly! I'm beginning to think it's a carefully crafted effort for the audience not to know...

Back in the early 80s it was $250, but that was when the winner had to go through the selection of assorted junk and spend as much of the money as possibe on stuff like ceramic greyhounds.

BTW, that was 250 to call out a letter, if it turned 0 or 10, it was still 250.
