Not important at all, obviously, but shouldnīt the "Life in Space" section be called simply "Extra-terrestrial Life"? Iīve always thought that title misleading. A newcomer might well think (at first glace) itīs about human life in space (which is covered in Space Exporation).

Maybe not a terribly improtant point (I'd expect a newbie to read the subtexts and browse the threads as well), but it rings true to me - "extraterrestrial life" - or "is anybody out there" would maybe make it clearer.

Discussions there also sometimes venture into the realm of human life in space, and the affect that may have on our society and physiology. It's not strictly limited to non-human life.

And if the newbie reads the line under the title which reads, "living critters anywhere but Earth," I would hope he could figure it out.

Those little fonts can be hard to resolve for some people. Ok, it was just a fine-tune idea. I am meticulous. :)

I have to agree with the OP.

When I first read "Life in Space", the first thing I thought of was manned space exploration.

But its life not people... (if you know what I mean)

I never saw any problem with it

I always assumed it was about extraterrestrial life. That it could apply to humans out there as well never occurred to me.

Ditto. Still, a minor correction to the fora's name surely wouldn't be that big an issue.

Or even just say ET instead of critters in the description (if that's what the intent is) After all, aren't we all "critters"? :)

Well, technically life in space need not be of extraterrestrial origin. We could have contamination of moons and such from terrestrial probes. It still would not be people in space, but terrestrial life in space.

So did I, except when I first came here I didn't check out that part of the Forum much so I didn't know for about a week.

I would support the change to ET-Life, makes more sense that way.

I think you could probably find a gray area between just about any 2 forums. If you've seen the way some of the conversations go, they will overlap even with a clear understanding of what the forums mean.:shifty:

Since the title is a means to give direction, then I believe that it should be very clear and concise. Cute or funny is ok as long as it's not misleading.

It's a beef that I have with the media. They're getting into the habit of misleading headlines. Technically they are correct, but they don't convey any of the meaning of the article.
