Is it gegenschein? http://www.jackstargazer.com/JHSG_DNLD.html Jack horkheimer's page has one of those five minute videos about the false dawn, it's a informative little program.

The Gegenschein is that part of the zodiacal light which is opposite the Sun (i.e. at the antisolar point), where preferential backscattering enhances the very faint glow of the zodiacal light; so, technically speaking, the Gegenschein could never be responsible for a false dawn.
